Welcome New Members!

SCWC member Louis Livan won 1st place in the Southwest Florida Wood Art Expo, January 2026. Louis's carving is a majestic full size eagle swooping down to grab a flounder from the water, only to be thwarted by a thick layer of ice. The base is handmade as well as the fish underneath the ice, carved by Louis. This is an impressive creation by one of our in-house artist here at the Space Coast Wood Carvers! Congratulations Louis! SCWC member Augie Ciresi took home 3rd place in the Novice category for "Best in Species" with his carving of a Canvasback Bufflehead in the 2025 Ward World Championship Wildlife Carving Competition (June 2025). The carving is hand painted by Augie. The realism is so amazing, this Bufflehead could take flight any moment. Congratulations to Augie on a well earned accomplishment!

SCWC Mourns the passing of member Lee Royer

Space Coast Wood Carvers Club Members Brings Home a Ribbon

The carving bench is quiet now. One of our own has laid down his tools.

Lee Royer lived with the precise, gentle grace of a master craftsman—a man who could look at a rough block of wood and see the beauty hidden inside.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Lee served as a Lieutenant in Vietnam before dedicating 25 years as an aerospace engineer. He wore many titles, but his greatest was that of husband and dad. In 1968, he married Patricia, beginning a 51-year love story and together they raised their children.

In his later years, Lee found a home among friends at the Space Coast Wood Carvers. He was a quiet, thoughtful man who let his hands do the talking, bringing warmth, character, and unmistakable craftsmanship to every piece he created.

It's inevitable: the time comes when we all lay down our carving knife, set our tools on the bench, and turn out the shop light one last time. Even so, this is not a moment to dwell only on loss. I'm betting that Lee just stepped out of his workshop and straight into the arms of the woman he loved for so many years, where they shared another dance together.

Lee leaves behind a legacy written in the slow, deliberate cuts of a life beautifully shaped and deeply loved. His carvings will endure, but even more enduring are the kindness, friendship, and quiet example he shared with all who knew him.

We will miss you, yet we aren't sad. We are grateful for every memory you leave us with.

His tools now rest on the bench. The workshop has gone quiet... yet you can still hear the soft scrape of his knife across the wood.
