Leaf Saltvedt

My parents were Norwegian immigrants. I was born on April 1927 and raised in Brooklyn, then moved to Princeton NJ in 1950, together with my parents and 2 brothers. In 1989 I retired as a Construction Supervisor, in Manhattan.

Woodcarving caught my interest, and not being aware of any carving clubs in my surroundings, I acquainted myself with different kinds of wood and drew my own patterns from studying a variety of birds, fish and other things of interest.

In 2001 I moved to Florida, where my older brother lived in Sebastian. John introduced me to the Sebastian Wood Carvers, where he was member of a 12 member club.

I later heard about the SCWC. After visiting the Melbourne club I was very impressed by the talented carvers and by how well the club was organized. So here I am.

Below are a few of my carvings.
